First drafted up how I wanted to construct them. Started with some smaller steel ones to test out the process. Shaped the metal pieces then welded them together. Decided to make a bigger aluminum one, using a gas cutter and then the bandsaw. Finishing with bending it.
It was a process of cutting the metal into shape and bending them to match the centre piece, before welding together. Cutting steel was a lot more time consuming than the aluminum.
I had a challenge with how to balance the feathers on the cord. This is me trying different methods. I liked the idea of it being a cleaner join. Yet, just having the cord through the middle with a wire did not stabilize it very well. And so I made hooks at the mid-point for the cord to knot onto.
