Smashing ceramic test

I wanted to test out the difference between dropping bisque and glazed fired clay. To do this I used the spray booth, as it is an enclosed safe space to test something like this. I wore safety googles, but what I didn’t take into account was the noise that the fired clay ones made, they were louder than I expected, so next time I will wear earmuffs too.

Stills from the video I took of it smashing

I found the thinner pieces smashed more as they were much more fragile, some of the glazed pieces didn’t break at all. And some thicker pieces took a few throws rather than drops to smash. I like the colours they have made in the mess. And I like that you can still see what some of the pieces were previously. I think for this to be successful in an install I need larger vessels, more like large vases/pots would be quite nice.
