Originally inspired by a drawing I did of broken glass, I liked the idea of having glass held within a frame, so found picture frames from an op shop. There’s something about finding objects with a history too which I find fascinating.
I found the most the most effective way the smash the glass was to glue the sides first and hit it with a hammer and nail. The first I glued together with a 2 part glue, the issue being it didn’t have a very clean finish. One piece broke beyond repair, smashing into a lot of small fragments.
The following ones I used a special glass super glue which worked well. I knew I wanted to suspend the broken glass frames, it wasn’t until i observed the shadows they made, that I saw the possibility of using light and a projector on them.
